The Meeting of the Eurasian Civil Registrars Network is being jointly organized in Mongolia from 2 to 4 June 2026 by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), in collaboration with the National Statistics Office of Mongolia and the General Authority for State Registration.
The meeting brings together representatives of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), and organizations working in the field of Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) across the Eurasian region.
Representatives from the Russian Federation, the Kyrgyz Republic, Armenia, Turkmenistan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, and Azerbaijan are also participating in the meeting. During the event, delegates will present their countries’ best practices, discuss key challenges, share experiences on ongoing reforms, and exchange views on strengthening CRVS systems across the region.
In addition, participants are scheduled to visit the State First Central Hospital, Urguu Maternity Hospital, the General Authority for State Registration, and the Sukhbaatar District Department of the State Registration to observe their operations firsthand. The visits will provide an opportunity to learn about birth and death registration procedures, civil registration services, and the operation of the e-Service Center.
In line with this programme, on 3 June 2026, the participants visited the General Authority for State Registration and familiarized themselves with the activities and services of the registration authority.
Mr. D. Davaanyam, Chairman of the General Authority for State Registration, Mr. L. Nyamdavaa, Head of Administration, Ms. N. Narantsetseg, Head of the Civil Registration Department, together with other department and division heads, warmly received the guests and delegates of the Eurasian Civil Registrars Network.
During the visit, the delegation was provided with an overview of the activities and achievements of the registration authority. The participants were also introduced to the digitization of archival records, portable registration equipment, and the 24/7 e-Service Center, which supports the delivery of accessible and efficient public services.
This meeting serves as an important platform for strengthening civil registration and vital statistics (CRVS) systems, expanding cooperation among countries, exchanging best practices, and developing joint solutions to common challenges across the region. Within the framework of the programme, participants are engaging in discussions on data protection, information sharing, interoperability between systems, and the accessibility of registration services, while exploring opportunities for enhanced regional cooperation and identifying practical solutions to shared issues.
The Meeting of the Eurasian Civil Registrars Network continues today (4 June 2026) with its third day of sessions and discussions.
